Motion Graphics Blog Post

I have chosen to choose the Monsters Inc opening sequence, as when i think of motion graphics i think of this masterpiece, due to the fact i believe the work was very advanced for the time it was made, 2001, and because of the fact that the techniques used really introduce the movie effectively.

The video starts with a blank screen, and random colorful cartoon shapes pop up on screen, and disappear again, all building up to doors appearing and showing that the shapes are meant to be apart of the doors. I love this because it has so many colors involved like blues and greens, leading on to pinks, and finally oranges and yellows. The animation itself explains the story line enough, but not too much, as it included the doors and the monsters and kids toys, automatically telling me that this movie is going to be original, and include monsters and doors. Also the background music is upbeat and quirky, this is obviously due to the fact that it is for a kids cartoon, but it also has a mature sound to it which attracted me to it, as it is a saxophone sound.

This compared to the older Disney title sequence of snow white shows the level of improvement they have reached within the technology side of it, as well as the creative side, but more technological freedom will allow you to be more creative.
